Real Sito di Carditello
The Royal Site of Carditello, located in the province of Caserta, in the heart of Campania Felix, was built at the behest of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon in 1787, in the area identified as early as the mid-eighteenth century by Charles of Bourbon and intended for breeding, the selection of royal horses and agricultural and dairy production. Designed by the Roman architect Francesco Collecini, a pupil of Luigi Vanvitelli, the Real Site consists of a central building surmounted by a loggia and a belvedere, flanked by other service buildings, and by a large elliptical gallop, bordered by two fountains with obelisks and with a small circular temple in the middle.
