Museo del Duomo di Ravello
The Cathedral of Ravello, built in the 11th century, was dedicated to Saint Mary of the Assumption and is designed in the Benedictine Cassino style. The museum (Museo dell’Opera), situated within the crypt, contains Christian relics, tombstones, religious furnishings and Christian cremation urns. It also contains a collection of contemporary art works and oriental icons of St Pantaleon. There are also medieval sculptures such as The Falconer. The seventeenth century chapel contains the ampulla of the blood of Saint Pantaleon which usually liquefies on 27 July, the day of the anniversary of his martyrdom. Closed on 27 July for the patron saint’s festival.
