Museo dei Gladiatori

The Gladiator Museum (Museo dei Gladiatori) is situated close to the amphitheatre of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. The museum exhibits include several elements that were found in the amphitheatre: keystones from outside the monument, several inscriptions dedicated to the emperors Hadrian and Antoninus Pius, heads of statues that decorated the arches of the upper levels of the amphitheatre. Museum displays recreate the tiered seating of the cavea, images of animals that appear to be running towards the arena, sacrificial scenes, the Centauromachy and scenes from the labours of Hercules.
