Museo archeologico nazionale di Pontecagnano
Opened in 2007 in a specially designed building, the Museum displays the extraordinary archeological evidence of the ancient settlement of Pontecagnano, founded in the area occupied by the present day city. The museum exhibit offers to visitors an educational experience based on graphic reconstructions, bilingual panels, reproductions of objects and burials. It illustrates the stories of a community, the southernmost of the Etruscans, its relationships to it neighbors and its far reaching trade route across the Mediterranean. The permanent exhibit presents a timeline illustrating the history of the Picentine region from its earliest prehistoric times until the foundation of the Roman city of Picentia.
