Parco Archeologico di Pompei

$0 per person

Founded by the Oscans in the 8th century BC, Pompeii is the only site in the world that reveals ancient Roman life in its entirety. Despite the tragedy that ensued, the huge eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD did have one positive outcome: it preserved everything in its original place, such as houses, inhabitants, objects and streets. The archaeological site covers an area of about sixty six hectares, and there are many buildings to admire: the Capitolium, the Temple of Apollo, the Basilica, the Temple of Vespasian, shops, inns, houses and ancient baths.

With Campania>Artecard, the Pompeii Express ticket is included (excluding the route from Porta Ercolano to the Suburban Villas, i.e., Villa of the Mysteries and Villa of Diomedes). They can be visited with an additional ticket costing €8.00.

New Guidelines for Using the Campania Artecard at the Pompeii Archaeological Park

To ensure optimal protection of the archaeological structures and improve the quality and safety of visits, the Pompeii Archaeological Park has decided to implement additional measures to limit entries to the park. Below are the measures – already shared with the Prefecture of Naples – that the Park intends to introduce starting November 15:

a) Daily limit of 20,000 visitors;

b) Introduction of time slots* during the high season – from April 1 to October 31 – which allow for:

  • From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, a maximum of 15,000 entries (divided into 12,000 for Pompeii Express and 3,000 for Pompeii+)
  • From 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm, a maximum of 5,000 entries (divided into 3,000 for Pompeii Express and 2,000 for Pompeii+)

*In relation to the time slots proposed by the Archaeological Park, please note that with Campania>Artecard, reservation is NOT required: visitors can simply go, individually or with their group, to one of the 3 entrances of the cultural site.

c) Introduction of a nominative ticket. Tickets can be purchased both on-site and online. Nominative tickets will be issued for all types of entries (Pompeii Express, Pompeii+, Pompeii 3days, and individual sites), both online and at physical ticket offices, upon presentation of an original ID by the visitor.

For Artecard holders:

  • Individual visitors will receive a single ticket with their name after identity verification.
  • For groups from tour operators, a nominal list of the group will be required at the ticket office. The name of the agency or tour operator will be shown on the collective ticket.
  • For family groups, at least one member of the group must present an ID at the ticket office to receive a collective ticket. The name of the group member and the guide accompanying the group will be shown on the ticket.

the Pompeii Express ticket. These areas can only be visited with the Pompeii+ ticket, by paying the difference at the ticket offices.
