Certosa e Museo di San Martino
The Charterhouse of San Martino (Certosa di San Martino), situated on the hill of Vomero near Castel Sant’Elmo, is one of the most important religious monuments devoted to baroque art. There are two churches that can be visited within the Charterhouse, together with the National Museum and the two cloisters: Chiostro Grande and Chiostro dei Procuratori. The itinerary ends with the Pharmacy-Apothecary’s workshop (Farmacia-Spezieria) of the Carthusian monks which contains the model of Antonio Corredini’s Veiled Christ, the inspiration for Giuseppe Sanmartino when he made the famous sculpture on display in the Sansevero Chapel.
